Thinking about getting a VMachine? In this video, I’m walking through the setup of a screenless, controller-operated delay and reverb “pedal” (a standalone, battery powered VST host) with “patches” you can select with your MIDI controller, based on a Windows 10 stick pc and some free VST plugins. Table of contents below! The whole project will set you back by 105 to 180 credits if you don’t own any of the devices used.

Some bands / artists I’ve been following for a long time are (among others) Massive Attack, Pink Floyd, Pet Shop Boys, Archive, A-Ha, Yes, Porcupine Tree, John Mellencamp, Jean-Michel Jarre, Metallica, Peter Gabriel and Perturbator. So my music will kind of sound like those (without ever reaching the greatness of those artists, of course). :-).

  1. I love the idea of using plugins as part of your guitar rig! Great vid as always.
Only problem I see is with latency, but you can always put it through a mixer so you can put all of the effects at 100% wet and then have a straight, dry output signal without any latency.

  2. As soon as the reverb sustain kicked in. I was waiting for you to kick out Comfortably Numb. Which speaks volumes over the minimal amount of kit you have achieved this compared to the mountain that these bands used in the past. Nice Video Again.
