  1. Unfortunately you are misinformed. There are two types of Dan Dan. Hong Kong style and Sichuan style. Sichuan style is with numbing peppercorns and lots of aromatic spice… it usually also has pork and pickled / fermented cowpeas. Hong Kong style is with a light peanut sauce. Din Tai Fung is based on Huaiyang cuisine – which is almost NEVER spicy. We live in a world where foodies don’t know their food and make uninformed videos though. For someone that didn’t enjoy the food, you still finished all of it 🤷🏽‍♂️

Hmm this is tricky, Fuschia Dunlop (who is definitely an expert) talks a lot about dan-dan noodles in her books, and I got the impression that she expected very little or no meat in them, but that's for a cheap dish in China, not Taiwan, so I'm not sure really what to think. More of this crap with Michelin starred places expanding into chains I think, when you can't expect the same quality and are just lured by the name.

  3. Other then their original place at Taiwan , Singapore have many ting tai feng but I never visit as is Costly and the standard was far away from it original Taiwan ,not recommended

  4. Actually, their menu has photos of those foods, so you should know it doesn't have meat before you order it. As for the taste, Din Tai Fung is from Taiwan, not China, so it's based on Taiwanese flavor. That's why dan dan noddles don't get the Sichuan peppercorn. But of course, you have right to not love it based on your personal feeling.

Oh dear you would think a michelin star rssteraunt would be very good as they have a high reputation to maintain ,after they way you described what you had eaten before i would have sent it back and asked did you forget the meat? hwo were your wifes dumplings ? i am more of a dep fried person but i will try anything for the experience .Another great video sorry about your meal but you have warned others of it teake care ,

  6. Very good review sorry to hear of your poor experience there. I make it a point to try an establishment at least twice to check for consistency. If it's consistent in a positive or negative way, I make my decision how to rate it then also, that determines whether or not I come back! BTW- Kinda funny to hear you complain about it, but then polished it off. I think you were hungry and at it out of principle.555

  7. The pork chops over rice is good. I've had it many times in Singapore. Truthfully though, Din Tai Fung is famous for their soup dumplings so it would've been a better idea to go for their specialties.

  8. Wow those prices! Reminds me of a conversation between a couple eating in a shitty supperclub. "This food is terrible and such small portions!".

  9. The Michelin-starred dim sum restaurants from Taiwan, Din Tai Fung and Tim Ho Wan, have mediocre branches in Bangkok. Thai chefs don't have an understanding of how these dishes are supposed to taste and they go cheap on ingredients. If you want real quality Chinese dim sum, you have to pony up the money and get reservations at Chef Man on Ratchadamri. Thank you for the honest review.

  10. Enjoy your videos. Like you said, this restaurant is known for its dumplings. Their dumplings are the best in the world. Its a must stop for me whenever I go to Bangkok. Next time try the dumplings and don't forget to eat them with the sliced ginger and black vinegar.
